A Sister's Stoush

Soul Snack 143/10 ... A Sister's Stoush

In a wanton abandon she neglected the duties of life and sat at His feet.

Her sister's expectations that seeped through her veins carried the unmistakable flush of disapproval. The demands were so clear and the resistance was so painful. Yet resist she would.

Sitting, listening and being still were always unacceptable in this household. The glare of ignored tasks blinded even closed eyes and claimed imaginations for ill-will.

Covered in an unusual canopy of sisterly disobedience, her attention could not be dislodged. Comments and demands struck upon deaf ears. Even the appeal to a higher authority would fail.

Mary remained seated. Mary had it correct - Jesus is far more interested in our attention to Him, than our activity for Him.

Martha, Martha, the Lord answered, you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her. (Lk 10:41-42)
