Soul Snack 114/13 ... God's Gripe
God's issue with man is his disregard for God.
This is the city of revelry that lived in safety. She said to herself, ‘I am the one! And there is none besides me... she obeys no one, she accepts no correction’ (Zeph 2:15a, 3:2a)
Those who would disregard God scoff at Him and recognize no correction. These self-sufficient godless ones can know no shame.
It is now a simple equation to understand the moral malaise washing this world; for there is no canon to measure behaviour or to cast a plumb line across a scoffer's plans.
Neither the proud nor the ignorant need to consult God; their conscience is as seared as their God independence is self-destructive.
BUT my issue is really protesting me, for I too still don't consider God well.
Would you please stand beside me, for I want to consider God completely, indeed in every moment and each decision?
I want to escape the cesspit of sin, the magnetism of immorality and the absence of sound judgement.
I want to jettison people pleasing, power pursuing and the indulgence of greed.
I want to stand with the Lord in all my life and not another nano-second without Him.
Create in me humility Lord, endow me with gentleness and water me in the dew of righteousness that I may recognise the shameful and flee the counsel of the wicked. Give me such a distaste for sin that I will only let you in. AMEN
