A tepid cross?

Soul Snack 9/186 ... A tepid cross?

2000 years ago a man did not stand up - He was nailed up!

This man stripped on the cross led by example.

In humiliation and indignity He was as naked on the inside as He was on the outside.

In being nailed to a tree He demonstrated for all to see that self-indulgence is truly self-negligence.
He was soon to receive an elevation and glory that no pursuit of self could ever achieve. From His self-denial He would receive life and glory again.

Bleeding but not bleating, His 7 cries of grace still punctuate eternity. In his final throes of pain He bellowed to those who would listen.

"Following me is not comfortable, tepid or self-centred!"

The spear punctured thorax of this dead man bleeds that Christianity can never be lukewarm and painless, because crucifixion isn't.

The summons of eternal freedom from sin is now the temporal crucifixion of self.

The hands that hold my heart now have healed wounds. The heart that holds my hands now pleads ... will you too bleed for me?

Now if we are children, then we are heirs-heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Roms 8:17
