From birth to burial the purpose of life is advancement to maturity.
From school to work the purpose of life is education.
From work to retirement the purpose of work is provision.
No infant can choose advancement or child pursue maturity by default.
All parents should desire that their child will chew on meat and not simply drink milk. All parents construct an infant's, child's and then teenager's life to promote this growth to maturity.
So too our father in heaven. Maturity is His eternal desire for each of His children. He too constructs our lives that we will reach maturity. As an egg must be cooked to be at its best for eating and as gold must be heated so that it becomes pure, so too God will apply 'heat' that we will become 'mature eaters of meat'. Wisdom knows that at such times it is best to not flee 'the heat' but 'feel' it.
To take the easy option is to choose for weakness. Weakness is fed by soft choices.
To flee life's 'heat' is to choose to stay a 'milk drinker'. To 'feel' life's heat is to 'eat meat'.
