Soul Snack S9/3 ... Bettering Myself

‘Seek the Lord all you humble of the land, you who do what He commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the Lord's anger'… Zeph 2:3

Appropriately, the desire for self-improvement is strong.

At least once each year we make resolutions towards this goal. We are good at making resolutions. There is an abundance of opportunity, it is open to all. Prosperity is plentiful and appears readily available too. How easy it is to decide to take opportunities, in the good hope that I am making my life better.

Yet as time proceeds the vagaries of life impinge on these well intentioned decisions for personal betterment. Old ways and habits so easily slip back, returning maybe  even unnoticed. That New Year resolution again is impeded. (There's always next year!)

God shows that the time for betterment is most finite. The time is now. God shows that betterment is not found in quantity, nor even promotion. Betterment comes through the attitude of the heart to Him.

Humility, obedience and righteousness are all to be sought in the human spirit. In fact there is protection in this way of life.

To enjoy real betterment this day resolve to pursue God's ways. Possessions, pennies or promotions can not deliver the human to a better place. To pursue God's ways (His righteousness) is to live under His umbrella of protection. It is to be in THE better place.

Father,
Thankyou that you would have me walk in your best ways, the paths of righteousness. Please show me my ways, attitudes and actions  that will hinder this. With your help please remove them from my life. Amen
