The Secret Place ~ B

Soul Snack 99/13 ... The Secret Place ~ B

Outstanding men who have their name etched permanently in history, who have achieved unimaginable legacies for the Lord, all share the same secret.

Moses dwelt in the wilderness of Midian and Sinai for forty years before the liberating exodus.

Elijah moved in the rugged and barren landscape of Gilead prior to confronting the wicked Ahab.

John the Apostle wrote his apocalypse (the Book of Revelation) in a cave while exiled upon the Greek isle of Patmos.

John the Baptist preached repentance from his desert abode.

And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. (Mk 1:4)

John Bunyan penned Pilgrim's Progress through various stints in jail.

Those who would seek a genuine legacy and desire to fulfil a mighty work know first the secret place, the isolation and solitude before the public plan. It may be a desert, a cave or even a jail but the secret place is unlikely to be a Hilton or a Sheraton.

There is no enduring public legacy without first the private and divine inspirations of the sacred Sciptures in an untrammelled secret devotion.

There is no permanent productivity without an even deeper devotion. Lasting fruit is birthed secretly upon the knees and not from the hands.

Productivity for Jesus won't make you devoted, but devotion to Jesus will make you productive.
