Jonah was a man who had God's attention and God had his ear. God did own Jonah's ear but He was still not welcome in Jonah's heart. Jonah heard God's call, but his heart shouted - NO!
A foolish Jonah attempted to flee God's call by sailing away.
A disobedient Jonah brought life threatening distress to those sailors around him when the waves raged.
A sinful Jonah invited fear, pain and even death across the lives of the innocent.
Sin is never conducted in a vacuum.
Pick me up and throw me into the sea, he replied, and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you. (Jonah 1:12)
