Bonsai Believers - A

Soul Snack 8/187 ... Bonsai Believers - A

Captives walking freely down the busy streets, the quiet lanes or congested malls.

Unhindered, unheeded and unhelped these people circulate readily through the changes and chances of life.

Unknowingly, unwittingly and unaware these people are yet to realise they are captive to small faith. They are bonsai believers.

The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful. Matt 13:22

Jesus lived the demands of His words. Jesus taught there would be much competition to distract those who would receive His word.

Bonsai gardeners skillfully emasculate plants that could grow large and well. Such plants are continually hindered and shaped so they stay small, never realising their full genetic potential. They become unable to produce the fruit of their genes.

Jesus indicates that life's worries and  wealth's deceitfulness are catalysts of bonsai believers (see also Luke 8:1-15) Some even have successfully escaped His pruning (John 15:1-2) and found refuge in retreat from the spiritual.

Jesus recognises and warns me of the obstacles to His work in my life.

Bonsai believers - don't leave earth as one!
