Valuing God's Promises#

The Lord is faithful to all His promises ... (Psalm 145:13c)

God's promises are long held, and the counting of them is difficult. 7000 to 8,810 seem to be the wide measure of Biblical promises. How many do you think are in these three verses from Psalms? Which is your favorite?

Salvation belongs to the Lord. Your blessing be upon Your people. Selah. (3:8)

The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace. (29:11)

Trust in Him at all times you people, pour out your heart before Him. God is our refuge. Selah. (62:8)

There is hardly any position more utterly beautiful, strong or safe than to put your finger upon some promise of the divine word and claim it. There need not be no anguish, struggle or wrestling. We simply present the cheque (check) and ask for cash, produce the promise and claim its fulfilment. (F.B. Meyer)

NOTE: The Hebrew word ‘Selah,’ is used throughout Psalms as a pause to reflect on the previous verse. It means to lift up and to exalt.
