Virtue signalling

2000 years ago Jesus 'exploded' onto the Galilean country-side. He began teaching the gathered multitudes, teaching not the 'law' or even 'theology', but 'virtue'.

The ancient Greeks practised wickedness when they exposed unwanted babes upon mountain-sides to die  In a similar manner 'virtue' continues to be jettisoned, it is forgotten and lies dead upon different hill sides. There is nothing new under the sun.

Around a millennium prior to the Greek Empire, in the days of the Judges, each man did what was right in his own eyes, so too this day. 'Virtue' is buried deep under 'my rights'. And, even Christians today are unable to divide 'good' from 'evil.'

The 'highest' virtue is righteousness, all other virtues cascade from it.

Jesus has called us in righteousness. His motive is not to harm or hurt us, but rather to take our hands, leading us to His good, perfect and pleasing will.

"I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you...(Isaiah 42:6a)

The Last Word:

When virtue is lost wickedness rages, and the greatest virtue 'righteousness' lies crucified.
