Workday Soul Snack 8/2 ... A Parent's Pleasure


"I will rejoice in doing them good, and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul'. Jer 32:41



'Fancy dress', the invitation indicated was optional. They had all ticked the options box. The various 'princess' and 'spiderman' costumes becoming an unnoticed hindrance in the 'do-nut bob' and 'pin the tail on the donkey'.

Attention spans short, the activity frenetic and the smiles endless. The squeals of delight from twelve 6 year olds echoed around the metallic colourbond fencing. This average suburban backyard had rarely seen such a joyous and energetic gathering.

Mum and dad had planned well. Realistically some weeks of careful thought and long discussion had been done. This was all so easy for mum and dad. Even the exhaustion of 3 hot and noise filled hours was not difficult. These parents loved so deeply. They literally rejoiced in bringing good to their own child. No cost too great.

Surely any healthy parent gives their heart and soul for their children. This is simply natural, as parents are made in the image of God. This is what He has already done for us.

Absolutely fully committed, He knows no gap in His love and no self-restraint to His devotion. To Him weariness is as unknown as selfishness.

His heart and soul (and Son) are already fully given to me. It just makes Him exceedingly happy to do me good.
