Listen to Me, My people!
Listen to Me, My people; hear Me My nation... hear Me, you who know what is right, you people who have My law in your heart... My salvation will last forever, My righteousness will never fail... do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults... (excerpts from Isaiah 51)
You don't have to be a sprinter to win the race of life. But, you still have to be in it and strong as a battleship's chain. The Word of God is our captain and coach.
The unrighteous know no shame and overflow with pride. They eagerly run to corruption. They will not escape.
Remember, God's (still to be realized) assessment of mankind promises eternal blessing or permanent destruction.
The day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth with everything in it will be laid bare ... Since you know that everything will be destroyed what kind of people ought you to be? (2 Peter 3:10 & 11a)
There are three steps to place 'destruction' behind your back.
Seek:
- the Lord in repentance while He may be found
- humility, for God is far from the proud
- holiness, Godliness and His righteousness, for then life will be added unto you.
The Last Word:
Be found spotless, blameless and at peace with Him. (2 Peter 3:14b)
